House concerts are a great way to have an intimate evening with friends and loved ones with a personalized touch. The idea of performances in this format was born out of a desire to bring a genuine and unique musical experience to an audience with the focal point being the music itself, with no distractions, a much different experience than a traditional concert. The physical closeness to the audience often cultivates a vibe which tends to be more interactive. Sometimes with explanations of the songs, touring stories, or even full on conversations about music, art, and philosophy spontaneously woven throughout the performance. For those who want a more “background” musical experience for their gathering, the music can be easily tailored to suit that environment as well. Performances work for any size crowd, from as little as 2, to as many people as you’d like.
The songs played will be a mixture of original, classical, and minimalist pieces; as well as covers in a similar style. For these songs, John’s approach to playing the bass involves his “two handed tapping” technique which lends itself to bringing out a very different side of the instrument. Because of this, these performances have a similar aesthetic to a solo piano performance.
